Robbie Bachman, the drummer of the legendary '70s rock band Bachman-Turner Overdrive died he was 69. Bachman will always be remembered for his exceptional musicianship, his electrifying performances, and his contributions to the world of music.

(February 18, 1953 – January 12, 2023)

Born in Winnipeg, Canada in 1953, Robbie grew up playing drums in a musical family alongside his older brothers Randy and Tim. The trio performed together in the band Brave Belt, which later changed its name to Bachman-Turner Overdrive in 1973. As the co-founder and original drummer of BTO, Robbie's rollicking drumming can be heard on eight of the band's chart-topping records. He also helped co-write some of their biggest hits, including 1973's "Hold Back the Water" and 1974's "Roll On Down the Highway."

Robbie's talent and energy were instrumental in helping BTO become one of the most successful rock bands of the '70s. His thunderous drumming provided the backbone for the band's signature sound, while his songwriting skills helped create some of their biggest hits. Robbie's contributions to the band were recognized in 2014, when he was inducted into the Canadian Music Hall of Fame.

Beyond his work with BTO, Robbie was also an accomplished musician in his own right. He continued to perform and record music throughout his career, and his influence can be heard in countless rock bands that followed in BTO's footsteps.
