We have lost a true gem of the entertainment industry with the passing of Charles Kimbrough, an incredibly talented actor whose career spanned over five decades. Kimbrough will always be remembered for his exceptional talent, unwavering dedication to his craft, and his ability to bring his characters to life in a way that captivated audiences.

                                                        (May 23, 1936 – January 11, 2023)

Kimbrough began his career on stage, where he showcased his incredible range as an actor. He got his big break in the original production of Stephen Sondheim's Company, for which


he earned a Tony nomination in 1971. He later appeared in another acclaimed Sondheim musical, Sunday in the Park With George, and starred in Candide, Same Time, Next Year, Accent on Youth, The Merchant of Venice, and most recently, the 2012 revival of Harvey opposite Jim Parsons.

Kimbrough's talent also extended to the screen, where he achieved greater mainstream success for his role as straight-faced anchorman Jim Dial on Murphy Brown. He starred on the hit sitcom throughout its 10-season run between 1988 and 1998, earning an Emmy nomination for his performance. Kimbrough reprised the role for a few episodes of the 2018 reboot, once again


showcasing his remarkable talent and bringing joy to audiences.

Kimbrough's other credits include TV shows Kojak, All My Children, American Playhouse, Love Boat: The Next Wave and movies The Front, It's My Turn, and The Good Mother. He also lent his voice to several animated films and shows,


including The Hunchback of Notre Dame, Recess, and Pinky and the Brain.

Throughout his career, Kimbrough touched the hearts of countless people and left a lasting impression on the industry he loved. He will be remembered not only for his incredible talent but also for his kindness, generosity, and his unwavering passion for his craft.
