He was one of the first artists to make hit records out of music written by the legendary Burt Bacharach. Jackson's smooth and soulful voice, coupled with Bacharach's unforgettable melodies, created a magical sound that captivated audiences around the world.

Born in Winston-Salem, North Carolina in 1937, Jackson began his musical journey


singing gospel music in church. He later joined the Del-Vikings, a popular doo-wop group, before launching a successful solo career in 1959. Jackson's career took off when he recorded the Bacharach-penned "Any Day Now," which became his signature song and propelled him to stardom.

Jackson's success led to a deal with Motown Records, where he continued to produce hit after hit. He remained a prominent figure in the music industry throughout the 1960s and 1970s, collaborating with other talented artists and earning critical acclaim for his work.

Throughout his career, Jackson was admired by his peers and fans alike for his incredible talent, warm personality, and unwavering dedication to his craft.
