In the 1970s he had successes including Aan Milo Sajna (1970), Caravan (1971), Dost (1974),Khel Khel Mein (1975), Hum Kisi Se Kum Nahin (1977), Gol Maal (1979).1980s

He married and divorced actress Kalpana, who had been Shammi Kapoor's heroine in Professor (1962).[3]In 2003 Bhowmick filed a defamation case against Barbara Taylor Bradford after she had sued him for copyright infringement regarding a TV soap opera.[4][5]
