Huthaifa al-Batawi, Iraqi al-Qaeda leader, was shot. and killed.
Abu Huthaifa al-Batawi was an al-Qaeda leader known by his nickname The Emir of Baghdad was shot. and killed.. Al-Batawi was the leader of the Islamic State of Iraq, al-Qaeda's front group in Baghdad, an umbrella group of Sunni Muslim extremist organizations. Al-Batawi was accused of being the mastermind of an October 31, 2010 Baghdad church attack in which 68 individuals, including seven security force members died. His al-Qaeda faction was also accused of being behind bombings against the Al Arabiya television station's Baghdad bureau, and a series of attacks on Baghdad's central banks which left more than two dozen people dead.
