Denny Laine, a celebrated musician and co-founder of both The Moody Blues and Wings, passed away on December 5, 2023, at the age of 79, leaving behind an incredible legacy in the world of rock music.
Throughout his illustrious career, Laine worked alongside some of the biggest names in music, including Paul McCartney, Ginger Baker, Trevor Burton, and Bev Bevan. His talent as a singer, guitarist, and songwriter earned him recognition and admiration from both fans and fellow musicians.
As a member of The Moody Blues, Laine sang lead on their breakthrough hit "Go Now," and later played an instrumental role in the success of Wings, co-writing songs with McCartney and performing on classics such as "Mull of Kintyre."

Ellen Holly, born on October 31, 1930, in New York City, passed away on December 6, 2023, at the age of 92. Holly was a trailblazing actress best known for her groundbreaking role as Carla Gray on the daytime television series One Life to Live, making her the first Black performer to have a starring role on U.S. daytime television.
After starting her career on Broadway, Holly struggled to find roles due to the narrow view of Black performers in the entertainment industry at the time. Her big break came when One Life to Live creator Agnes Nixon read Holly's letter to The New York Times and was inspired to create the character of Carla Gray, which Holly portrayed from 1968 to 1980 and again from 1983 to 1985.
During her life, Holly lived in New York City and had an impactful career that included roles in other television shows like Guiding Light, films such as Spike Lee's School Daze, and even a TV movie titled 10,000 Black Men Named George.
Ellen Holly did not receive any major awards or have a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. However, it's worth noting that her groundbreaking role as the first Black performer to star on U.S. daytime television in a leading role is an incredible achievement in itself, and a significant contribution to the entertainment industry. Despite not receiving major awards, her legacy as a trailblazer and her impact on television history are undeniable.

James Perry McCaffrey, a versatile and talented actor known for his iconic voice role as Max Payne in the Max Payne video game series, passed away on December 17, 2023, at the age of 65. McCaffrey brought life to numerous memorable characters throughout his career, leaving a lasting impression on fans and colleagues alike.

Born in Albany, New York, in 1958, McCaffrey's passion for acting led him to take on diverse roles across various platforms, including television, film, and video games. He is best remembered for his performances as Jimmy Keefe on Rescue Me, Captain Arthur O'Breun in New York Undercover, and Ryan Huntley on Revenge, in addition to his unforgettable video game roles.
As the voice of Max Payne, McCaffrey brought depth and complexity to the character, solidifying the series' position in gaming history. His connection to the role was further cemented by a cameo appearance as an FBI agent in the film adaptation of the game. He also contributed his vocal talents to Alan Wake, where he played Thomas Zane, and its sequel, where he starred as Alex Casey.
