Career
Born in Cruz Alta, Rio Grande do Sul, Catê began his football career with local side Guarany. He had a brief spell with Grêmio before finding success with São Paulo under manager Telê Santana.[1]Catê played for Brazil at the 1993 FIFA World Youth Championship finals in Australia.[2]
Death
Catê died in a road traffic accident in the town of Ipê, Rio Grande do Sul, when the car he was driving was involved in a collision with a truck.[3]Honors
